Verse-Chorus Lyrics

Lyrics by Dean Grein

Bad Girl

Genres: Pop

She’s the kind of girl that trouble finds,
Midnight eyes and tangled lies
Dancing through the smoke and noise,
Drawn like fire to broken boys.
She laughs at love, says it’s a game,
Love is boring, always the same.
She chases sparks that always burn,
Seems like she never learns

Chorus
She’s out late when the wild ones roam,
Looking for a bad boy to call her own
Yeah, she’s a bad girl but more than that,
She’s a sad girl whos wearing a mask.
Running from silence, chasing the sound,
Of anything loud to drown her out.

Verse
Her friends don’t get what pulls her in,
Why she trades gold for a reckless grins
They all say, “You’re better than this mess,”
But she wears danger like a dress
She’s got a heart that’s built on scars,
Wishes made on faded stars.
Every choice is a new mistake,
Trying to outrun what she can’t shake

Chorus
She’s out late when the wild ones roam,
Looking for a bad boy to call her own
Yeah she’s a bad girl, but she's more than that,
She’s a sad girl who's wearing a mask.
Running from silence, chasing sound,
Of anything loud to drown her out

Bridge
But maybe one day she’ll break the chain,
Trade her sorrow in for better days
Start to climb from where she fell,
Find the story she's meant to tell

Chorus (Repeat)
She’s out late when the wild ones roam,
Looking for a bad boy to call her own
Yeah, she’s a bad girl, but she's more than that,
She’s a sad girl who's wearing a mask.
Running from silence chasing sound
Of anything loud to drown her out

VS 1.

When I laid in our empty bed to sleep,
I reached out to hold her in my arms,
I was knee deep in promises I wouldn’t keep.
Thinking no big deal, what’s the harm?
 VS 2.

I just ignored her ultimatum,
Concerning things, I didn’t care about.
So, all I done was just play dumb,
Until she finally kicked me out.

REFRAIN:

I’ll be standing in the Mississippi rain,
And wash away all my sorrow and pain.
I’m gonna put on a smile and wear it all the while,
‘Til you’re in my loving arms again.

VS 3.

I’ve been going to our favorite place,
Where she and I would go to dance.
Now I embrace all the mistakes I must face,
Could we rekindle a new romance?

VS 4.

Could it be possible she always loved me,
Maybe even that she might still care?
You belong with me and I hope you see,
This time I will always be there.

REFRAIN:

I will be standing in the Mississippi rain,
And wash away all my sorrow and pain.
I’m gonna put on a smile and wear it all the while,
‘Til you’re in my loving arms again.

BRIDGE:

Now it’s time for an important decision,
I have to make it quick, so I ask.
Do I want to be with other women,
Or do I find a way to make us last?

VS1.
Finding the right man today might be tough,
Lookin’ fine in tight jeans just ain’t good enough.
He doesn’t have to be a muscle-bound man,
I’d be more impressed with his 401K plan.

(Pre-CHORUS)
If I find me a treasure,
I’m taking drastic measures.
When I find the right man,
Going to grab him while I can.

(CHORUS)
I ‘m gonna bag him and tag him,
That man will be all mine.
He better wine me, then dine me,
While he shows me a good time.

VS2.
If I stumble upon the right guy,
He better notice me; I got no time for shy.
Might I be asking just a little too much,
I’m looking for a man with a softer touch.

(REPEAT Pre-CHORUS)

(REPEAT CHORUS)

(BRIDGE)
Fin’lly when it’s time to seal the deal,
I’m gonna show him exactly how I feel.
He’ going to know when the time is right,
When we’re alone on a moonlit night.

(REPEAT CHORUS)
I‘m gonna bag him and tag him!

Big City Girl, Revised

Genres: Country, Indie

Big City Girl (revised)

Verse
She walked away from the city sky,
Chasing a dream she couldn’t buy.
Left her high-rise, neon glow,
Searching for a place her heart could go.

Verse
He was working hard on a dusty farm,
Calloused hands but a country charm.
Didn’t believe ‘til she broke down that night,
And love hit fast like a flash of light.

Pre-Chorus
We don’t need to rush this time,
Baby, we'll let the stars align.

Chorus
He said, meet me somewhere between Martini and Bud Light,
I’m lit up inside like a million fireflies.
This is brand new, never seen a love so bright,
Feels like dancing under neon lights.
She said, meet me somewhere between Broadway and Rodeo
I was lost before but now I know.
I followed the signs, straight to your side and
The calm in those blue eyes.

Bridge
Big city girl left the noise behind,
Now she’s barefoot where the stars all shine.
Never thought simple could feel so right,
In the hush of a country night.

I followed the signs, straight to your side and
The calm in those blue eyes

Rear View Mirror ( Revised)

VS1
I’ll never forget my first love
We were meant to be together
Our love we couldn't get enough
I don’t know why that love
Didn't find a way to stay
l guess I let her slip away.

CHORUS:
Through the rear-view mirror, I see the mistakes of the past,
In each love story that didn’t seem to last.
As I walk down this lonely road
My heart carries a heavy load

VS2.
time moved on and I found a wife.
Together we built a happy life
But I soon started to roam, and love ran out of room, oh I started to roam

CHORUS:
Through the rear-view mirror, I see the mistakes of the past,
Each love story that didn’t seem to last.
As I walk down this lonely road
My heart carries a heavy load

VS3.
Bad judgement led me to stray
Now I long for love to come my way
Wish I could make up for the mistakes,
And find a way to erase the heartaches

CHORUS:
Through the rear-view mirror, I see the mistakes of the past,
And each love story that didn’t seem to last.
As I walk down this lonely road
My heart carries a heavy load

I Never Heard I Love You (Revised)

Verse 1

I needed something to get tangled in

He was flexing’ at his own reflection again

I thought I’d look cute as a bicep charm

Like a bracelet hanging’ off that arm

Chorus

My two friends rolled their eyes when he winked at me

Before they could say “girl, bad reputation I jumped in with both feet

He calls me “perfect” every time

My friends wave red flags from the sideline

wish I had been a private investigator

cause I never did hear I Love you at any time

Verse 2

When the dust clears, I’ll be sipping’ tea

Sayin’ “wish he’d told the truth instead of bench-pressing’ me”

I gave it all ‘til my ship sank through

And my friends all said we told you

Chorus

My two friends rolled their eyes when he winked at me

Before they could say “girl, bad reputation, I jumped in with both feet

He calls me “perfect” every time

My friends wave red flags from the sideline

wish I had been a private investigator

cause I never did hear I Love you at any time

Verse 3

Got my fireworks, yeah, a short-lived dance

While the smoke alarm killed the romance

I swirled through roses and cheap red wine

The more I hoped, the less he tried

Chorus

My two friends rolled their eyes when he winked at me

Before they could say “girl, bad reputation. I jumped in both feet

He calls me “perfect” every time

Better Things To Do ( Revised)

Verse

You pull me through doorways

Of the downtown scene

Spend the night chasing barbies

While I’m stuck in between

Blinded by promise

I swallow the bait

Now I sit stranded

For a table at eight

Chorus

you imagined I had

Nothing better to do

Then keep track of your warnings

Then fall carefully for you

I guess I lose

When you bend the rules

You caught me

That’s one, two, three,

Your victory

Verse

At least I can name it now,

The trick behind those eyes

So heres to your trophy

for every wasted night

You spin your best lies

Then pause on the line

Right before the hero

Shows his dark side

Chorus

you imagined I had

Nothing better to do

Then keep track of your warnings

 then fall carefully for you

I guess I lose

When you bend the rules

You caught me

That’s one, two, three,

Your victory

Bridge

I Guess you didn't see my courage

when I stepped up to the plate

Chorus

you imagined I had

Nothing better to do

Then keep track of your warnings

Then fall carefully for you

I guess I lose

When you bend the rules

You caught me

That’s one, two, three,

Your victory

Whiskey or Women, revised

Genres: Country

Whiskey

(Verse)
With two shots of courage, I put on the charm,
Didn’t take long ‘til she fell in my arms.
We danced to the beat of a country tune,
I held her so close; I could smell her perfume.
Whiskey on my breath burned hot and strong,
She pulled away, said I got it all wrong
Every time I chase the bottle too far,
I end up alone here at the bar

(PRECHORUS)
Now I’m here drinking all night
Whiskey keeps me warm, women hold me tight
But the truth is plain but hard to face,
One of them always gets replaced.

(CHORUS)
Whiskey and women just don’t mix,
But I keep reaching for both just for the fix.
A heart or a hangover is the choice I face
One’s bound to break me, one my heart will kick

(Verse)
I’ve tried to balance, I’ve tried to choose,
But either way , I’m bound to lose.
The bottle don’t kiss me, but it never lies,
And women are trouble with fire in their eyes.
Whiskey in my hand, her memory in my head,
One leaves me hurting, the other alone in my bed
But I take the burn, I take the bite
With whiskey and women, I lose every time

(PRECHORUS)
Now I’m here, drinking all night,
Whiskey keeps me warm, women hold me tight
The truth is plain but hard to face,
One of them always gets replaced.

(CHORUS)
Whiskey and women just don’t mix,
But I keep reaching for both just for the fix.
A heart or a hangover is the choice I face
One’s bound to break me, one my heart will kick

(OUTRO)
So I’ll drown my sorrows with a bottle and glass,
Till her sweet perfume is a memory of the past.
Whiskey and women are a hard road to ride,
But I’ll keep on trying to have both by my side.

Off to War

Genres: Country

Off to War

Verse
After months of drills and training hard,
they’ve shipped me to the wars front yard.
The road ahead will take all I’ve got,
But I’ll fight my way home, giving us my best shot.
I’m off to war, while you’re left behind,
Carrying your face in the back of my mind.
I’ll remember your voice every night
You told me, keep Holding on, it'll be alright

PRECHORUS
Every mile further feels colder somehow
I wonder if I’ll live to see you now.

CHORUS
I’m off to war, where the guns never sleep
The cost of surviving is bitter and deep.
I dream of your laughter,
The warmth of your touch.
Out here in the fire
I miss you so much.

Verse
As the days turn to weeks, the silence grows
Watching the smoke where the river goes
The nights are long and fear is near
Counting the days till this all disappears
Bullets fly, I’m far from home,
I need your love, but I don't stand alone.
I don't stand alone.

PRECHORUS
Every mile further feels colder somehow
I wonder if I’ll live to see you now.

CHORUS
I’m off to war, where the guns never sleep
The cost of surviving is bitter and deep.
I dream of your laughter,
The warmth of your touch.
Out here in the fire
I miss you so much.

New Girl

Genres: Hip-hop, Indie, Pop

VS 1.
I got a new girl fresh as the breeze,
She is so fine, she puts me at ease,
I used to start every day in a spin.
This is the best I’d ever been,
               Since I don’t know when.

VS 2.
Her heart’s like a magnet, drawing me near,
Her eyes like the ocean, so blue and clear
Friends all wondering what in the world?
Now my life’s in such a whirl,
Since I got a new girl.

(CHORUS)
I got a new girl, we ride.
Side by side, we glide.
It’s a love so real you can’t hide.
When me and her collide.
Can’t be denied.

VS3.
No more hook ups, surfin’ sites,
I now have someone to fill my nights,
And no more sadness in my heart you see.
I’m flying high as can be,
               Change has come over me.

(Repeat CHORUS)

(BRIDGE)
We dance, we vibe
We roll, we collide.
We’re breaking rules, no limits, no chains,
Passion so fierce like a run away train

(CHORUS#2) (please add add-libs to these 2 choruses)
I got a new girl, we ride.
Side by side, we glide.
It’s a love so real you can’t hide.
When me and her collide.
Oh, yeah.

What If, revised addition

Genres: Pop

VS1
I've always thought of my first true love,
How I let her slip away from me.
Music was my life, yet it cost me a wife,
Were we ever meant to be?

VS2
Now that I'm alone, I wonder how she’s grown.
I often think of my decision.
How would our lives be, had she married me.
Would it last with a musician?

(CHORUS)
I see people everywhere staring at their phone
Do you think I could find her online?
How would it feel to see her life's ideal?
Would I like the things I find?

VS3
Would we have survived and kept our love alive,
With all the time we’d spend apart?
A man will often roam, if he feels he’s all alone,
Far from his lovin' woman's heart.

VS4
I better be aware and not go there,
Just to see how she is today.
Would she be upset, or think that I'm a threat,
There might be a heavy price to pay?

BRIDGE:
I need to stop all this reminiscing,
Thinking of what I could be missing.
As the time flies by, the memories will die,
I know we were never meant to be.

Hard Habit, Revised Version

Genres: Pop

Vs 1.
You’re so many of my afflictions,
They’re all wrapped up in one.

Will I be released from this conviction,

I can’t stay,

I can’t run.

Vs 2.

You’re my morning cup of coffee,

As I’m gettin’ out of bed.

I know caffeine’s no good for me,

But it helps me clear my head.

PRE-CHORUS #1:

I’m not telling you a lie,

Your love is so bad for me.

You’re always asking me why,

     We always seem to disagree.

CHORUS:

Please, please give me a break,

I’ll start to shiver; I’ll start to shake.

Might I suffer from a heart attack,

If you don’t agree to take me back?

Hard habit to break.

Vs 3.

You’re my afternoon cigarette,

     My sweet nicotine fix.

Is this something else that I might regret,

Or just another way to get my kicks?

Vs 4.

You’re my afterwork shot of Jack,

I’m drinkin’ in our favorite bar.

Thinkin’ someday you’ll take me back,

While strummin’ on my old guitar.

PRE-CHORUS #2:

You are that sleeping pill,

     I take most every night.

It helps me dream you love me still,

So, I can make it ‘til the morning light.

Repeat CHORUS:

BRIDGE

Guess I gotta stop drinkin’ coffee and booze,

Along with smoking and taking sleeping pills,

I wonder which ones should I choose,

A choice I’m gonna need to fulfill.

Hard habit to break.

Hard habit to break.

Fog, Revised version

Genres: Pop

VS1.
Everywhere I go, your mem’ry lingers on,
Echoes of your laughter, like a faded song.
It’s like I’m lost in a fog, all alone,
Wondering if you’ll ever come back home.

VS2.
Every step I’m taken down a long dark path,
I’m just chasin’ shadows; can’t escape the past.
Sadness heals slowly; I’ll do what I can,
You have to realize, I’m still your man.

(PRECHORUS)
Lost in the fog where daylight fades,
Heartbreak and pain like an ache that stays.

(CHORUS)
I’m lost in a fog, can’t find my way home,
I hear your voice in the wind, but I’m all alone.
Your unanswered love has left me blue,
Will we ever find the love we once knew.

 VS3.
When will I know enough’s enough?
I might be in danger, just giving up.
We were so much in love, way back when,
Will we ever get the chance to start over again?

(Repeat PRECHORUS)

(Repeat CHORUS) the last bar of this chorus “love we once knew” has a different melody than the 1st chorus.

(BRIDGE)
Walking a dark path I have asked myself,
How to get rid of the sorrow I felt.
With every step, through the mist, I’ve found,
Even lost in the fog, I won’t run aground.

(Repeat 1st CHORUS)

What Did I Do

Genres: Indie

What Did I Do 2025 Lyrics and copyright owned by Dean Grein

VS1.
I’ve no one to blame except myself,
Leaving your love high up on a shelf.
I put you up there for all to see,
So everyone would know you belonged to me.
But now you want to leave.

VS2.
I wake up each day, not much to do.
I might not live through the day without you.
You’ve left me alone with no goodbye.
You’re no longer here and I don’t know why.
And all I do is cry.

(CHORUS)
What did I do? What did I do?
What did I do to break your heart in two?
Did I let you down? Did I make you cry?
Tell me, baby, what went wrong this time
All these questions in my heart
Are tearing me apart.
I’m lost without you.
Oh - oh, oh..., what did I do?

VS3.
Every mistake was like a brick in the wall,
I made so many, I won’t count them all.
So many mistakes, I can’t count them all.
Every one was like another brick in the wall.
Now I am wondering if it is too late,
How much longer must I carry this weight?
This weight of hurt and shame.

(Repeat CHORUS)

(BRIDGE)
Loneliness hurts, it may cut like a knife,
Have I lost you for the rest of my life?
Everyone says it’s time to move on,
But I’m not ready to think that you’re gone.

(Repeat CHORUS)

(Outro)
Searching for answers, the silence of pain,
Wondering if love could ever bloom again.
What did I do, oh, what did I do?
Baby, please tell me, what did I do?

What did I do?
What did I do?
What did I do?

Going to Mars (Lyrics and song copyright owned by Dean Grein 2025)

VS1.
After four long years of training hard,
I was chosen to go to Mars.
A round trip might take a thousand days,
But I’ll make it back to you some way.

VS2
I’m going to Mars, and leaving you here,
     Fighting fear and danger everywhere.
I’ll remember our kiss when you held me tight,
You whispered to me it will be alright.

PRECHORUS:
Ev’ry mile travelled means I’m further from you,
And wondr’ing if this was the right thing to do.

CHORUS:
I’m going to Mars, and chasing the stars,
But us being apart is breaking my heart.
 I dream of your laughter,
     The warmth of your touch.
I wish I could hold you,
     I love you so much.

Gimme a Redhead

Genres: Blues

Gimme a Redhead
Lyrics and all copyrights held by Dean Grein 1/21/2025

I’ve loved blondes and brunettes in my day,
But there’s somethin’ about a redhead I must say.
Every time that I see one, I nearly go insane,
I’m not sure why, it’s hard to explain.

Gimme, gimme a redhead,
     A sweet little redhead.
A little pretty ginger girl,
     I could love instead.

When my friends and I go out on the town,
There’re not too many redheads seen around.
I look for the things that make her unique,
Bright green eyes and freckles on her cheeks.

Gimme, gimme a redhead
 A sweet little redhead.
A little pretty ginger girl,
     I could love instead.

It’s getting harder, but I won’t give up my dreams,
     Gotta find a redhead,
     To call my sweetheart
And comfort me.

Gimme, gimme a redhead
 A sweet little redhead.
A little pretty ginger girl,
     I could love instead.

There are lots of pretty women out there,
But these lovely charming ladies just don’t compare.
Well, I can’t go back, my heart’s been painted red,
No, I just can’t get that scarlet out of my head.

Gimme, gimme a redhead
 A sweet little redhead.
A little pretty ginger girl,
     I could love instead.

Gimme, gimme a redhead
 A sweet little redhead.
A little pretty one,
     I could love instead.

My Faded Old Blue Jeans

Genres: Blues

My Faded Ol’ Jeans
Copyright 1/10/2025 Lyrics and song owned by Dean F. Grein.

VS1.
One day I found in a bottom drawer,
A pair of jeans I ‘d never worn before.
They fit so well when I jumped in my truck.
I really could not believe my good luck.
  VS2.
I used to wear them most ev’ry day,
But over the year that’s a price to pay.
I never thought I’d have to put them aside,
Those rips and tears I can no longer hide.

(CHORUS)
Now I’m parting ways with my ol’ blue jeans,
Good times been stitched into the seams
So, I say goodbye to my old friend,
I will never forget the places we’ve been.

VS3.
Today’s the day, it’s been six years
I’m really sad, but I shed no tears.
While I was asleep, I had a dream,
I just left the mall with a pair of new jeans.

(BRIDGE)
I tried my faded jeans on one last time,
But throwin’ them away would be a big crime.
Take them to a thrift store, and I know why,
Even with the rips and tears, somebody else will buy.

Whiskey or Women

Genres: Country

(VS1.)
With two shots of courage, I put on the charm,
It wasn’t too long ‘til she was in my arms.
We danced to the beat of a country tune,
I held her so close; I could smell her perfume.

(VS2.)
Whiskey on my breath didn’t go so well,
It meant no kiss good night; this I could tell.
Whiskey or women, what will it be,
Seems I can’t have both. Which one is for me?

(PRECHORUS) choice #1
I’m sittin’ in this bar, thinking all night,
Do I crawl into a bottle, or find someone to hold me tight?
The right choice is still in doubt,
Which one can’t I live without?

(CHORUS)
Whiskey and women just don’t mix,
Better find another way to get my kicks
Liquor or the lady is a tough choice to make,
Picking the wrong one could be... a big mistake.
(VS.3)
After I’ve tried to compare the two,
I’m still not sure what I should do.
I don’t want whiskey to control my life,
But how’s that any different than having a wife

Repeat PRECHORUS
Repeat CHORUS

(BRIDGE #1)
Whiskey or love, I must decide,
A bottle in my hand or a girl by my side
Please help me choose,
A life with a lady or a bottle of booze?

Repeat CHORUS

(OUTRO)
So, I’ll drown my sorrows with a bottle and glass,
Until her faded memories have all but passed.
Whiskey and women are a terrible blend,
Love is uncertain, but the bottle’s always my friend.

Is Heaven Where I Belong?
Lyrics and Copyright owned by Dean Grein 1/JAN/2025

(VS.1)
My life’s been like a bumpy road,
Difficult to drive with a heavy load.
  Things don’t look any clearer,
As I stare into the rear-view mirror.

(HALF CHORUS)
Help me O Lord to see the light,
Guide my soul to what is right.

(VS.2)
Should I be a pillar, straight and tall,
    Standing alone, might I fall?
Sin and lust can put me away,
Lord, I really need you today.

(CHORUS)
Help me O Lord to see the light,
Guide my soul to what is right.
Is Heaven where I belong,
Forever my home once I'm gone?

(VS.3)
If I do what's expected of me,
Trying to live as you want me to be.
Temptations often lead me astray,
Lord, please help me find my way.

(FULL CHORUS)

(BRIDGE)
Waiting on my reckoning day,
I wonder what the Lord might say,
"Yes, my son, I understand,
What it takes to be a man."

(FULL CHORUS)
Is Heaven where I belong?

Your Huckleberry Friend

Genres: Country, Indie

Your Huckleberry Friend 2024, all copyrights owned by Dean Grein Jr

VS.1
I am your huckleberry friend,
Who knew we’d last a lifetime?
It started when we both were ten,
     Hanging out, partners in crime.

VS.2
Well kept secrets of girls we’d had,
All the bridges that we burned.
Where they are now, were we so bad?
     Spurned love we never returned.

(CHORUS)
I’ll be your huckleberry friend
Throughout all the thick and thin.
I will always ride, by your side,
     Until the very end.

VS.3
I know when your heart is heavy,
And the sad things on your mind.
We know life is tough already,
     Answers aren’t easy to find
VS.4
Now we’re older, the years roll by,
Still closest friends, you and I.
So, here’s to us, our lifetime bond,
All the years we’ve carried on.

(repeat CHORUS)

(repeat CHORUS)

Until the very end.
(OUTRO)

I was always your huckleberry friend,
     Constant ally to the end.
In time we have passed away,
And now both of our tombstones say,

Spoken: “Here lies two old friends, side by side.”

Demon Whiskey

Genres: Indie, Rock

“Demon Whiskey” lyrics and song copyright owned by Dean Grein Jr 11/25/2024

VS.1
Whiskey was never the answer, right?
Just a band aid for my heart.
You walked out on me one rainy night,
     Lookin’ for a brand-new start.

VS.2
I smelled your perfume in our bed,
It was sweet as summer rain.
Now mem’ries just remind me instead,
That all Jack did was numb the pain.

(PRE-CHORUS)
Drinkin’ whiskey and playin’ guitar,
I’ve been chased by ghosts from ev’ry bar.
They’ll never disappear without a trace,
Since a broken heart you can’t replace.

(CHORUS)
The demon whiskey has seized me,
      Controlling my every thought,
I realize how he’s deceived me,
In his web of schemes, I’m caught.

VS.3
I’d be a fool to seek a cure,
With the shape I find myself in.
My leap of faith needs to be sure,
But I don’t know where to begin.

(PRE-CHORUS)
Drinkin’ whiskey and playin’ guitar,
I’ve been chased by ghosts from ev’ry bar.
They’ll never disappear without a trace,
Since a broken heart you can’t replace.

(CHORUS)
The demon whiskey has seized me,
      Controlling my every thought,
I realize how he’s deceived me.
In his web of schemes, I’m caught.

The demon whiskey,
The demon whiskey,
     Has seized me.

Bag Him and Tag Him Lyrics by Dean Grein 2024
If you are interested in recording any of my songs, please contact me at deang55@yahoo.com, or 1(707)704-0620

VS1.
The first time I saw you, how you changed my life,
My future then suddenly became so bright.
I knew from that minute on, I was in love,
But winning your heart, was I good enough?

VS2.
We danced to the music, your perfume was so sweet,
Your touch electric, my heart skipped a beat.
I knew from that moment I was in mighty deep,
You’re the girl of my dreams that I wanted to keep.

CHORUS:
I wonder just how you feel about me,
Could I fulfill your wildest dreams?
Might this be the start of a true romance,
All I’ll ever asked you is to give me a chance.

VS3.
You never mentioned much about your life,
Were we just two ships passin’ in the night?
Rejection is always hard to accept,
Moving on appears to be the only choice left.

Repeat CHORUS

BRIDGE
When the night was over, the notion set in,
I start to wonder, is there another him?
I’ll cherish the memories, I won’t chase you down,
Unrequited love, I’ll wear like a crown.

Repeat CHORUS
give me a chance

Big City Girl-revised Lyrics by Dean Grein 2024
If you are interested in recording any of my songs, please contact me at deang55@yahoo.com,

VS.1
Tho’ I earned that Office on the highest floor,
Looks over the city, thinkin’ there has to be more.
Now I’m in the car drivin’ to a new destiny,
Wonderin’ how long a New York minute lasts in Tennessee.

VS2.
He was mending fences in a one-light town,
Not religious but he swore he’d found,
An Angel, who’s car wouldn’t start,
Slipped right through his barbed-wire heart.

PRE-CHORUS
We don’t have to jump right in,
Baby, just lean against the fence.
This is something new,
I know you feel it too.

CHORUS: He said….
Meet me middle of the road between
     Martini and Bud Light.
Baby, I’m buzzing like a million fireflies.
This is new for me, never seen something so bright,
Must be all those neon lights.

She said…
Meet me middle of the road between,
     Broadway and Rodeo.
I was lost before you turned off the alarms,
     This is new for me.
I followed the signs to the calm in your big strong arms

VS3.
I met him Saturday night on the dance floor’
Startin’ to feel that something more,
Under the moon swaying in the family barn,
I was falling for that Country charm.

PRE-CHORUS
We don’t have to jump right in,
Baby, just lean against the fence.
This is something new,
I know you feel it too.

CHORUS He said…
Let’s meet middle of the road between
     Martini and Bud Light.
Baby, I’m buzzing like a million fireflies.
This is new for me, never seen something so bright,
Must be all those neon lights.

She said…
Let’s meet middle of the road between,
     Broadway and Rodeo.
I was lost before you turned off the alarms,
     This is new for me.
I followed the signs to the calm of your big strong arms.

BRIDGE
Big city girl jumped the fence,
Now she’s barefoot on the porch,
Wondering how something so different,
     Could feel so right,
Under the stars on a slow country night.

CHORUS He said…
Let’s meet middle of the road between
     Martini and Bud Light.
Baby, I’m buzzing like a million fireflies.
When we kiss, I feel the electricity
Of those neon lights.

She said…
Let’s meet middle of the road between,
     Broadway and Rodeo.
I was lost before you turned off the alarms,
     This is new for me.
I followed the signs to the calm of your big strong arms.

I Walk Alone

Genres: Indie, Pop

“I Walk Alone” Copywrite 2024
This song, and all my other songs, are commercially available. Please contact me at deang55@yahoo.com, (707)704-0620.

VS1.
It all started out so innocently, the answer I sought,
When questioning something we’ve all been taught.
Just a simple answer was all I had asked,
Now I’m called a heretic, constantly harassed.
VS2.
Whatever happened with the right to free speech,
What possible horrors would my question unleash.
What about all the others who tend to agree,
They, too, want an answer. They are just like me.

(CHORUS)
I walk the Earth alone, wondering why this all began,
Being the hated person was never the plan.
Now I must question the choices I’ve made,
How to handle this crisis I’ve caused today.
VS3.
To my surprise my family has ostracized me,
And most my friends have all criticized me.
 It’s a fright’ning feeling to be disowned,
When told to leave my fam’ly home.

(VS4)
Would it be a good thing if I changed my name,
Disguise myself so I don’t look the same.
I’ll face the backlash, try to find the answer.
My good name has been trashed; I want to stop the slander.

(repeat CHORUS)

(BRIDGE)
Although, I’m an outcast wherever I go,
More and more seekers are starting to show.
With strength in numbers, I now know what to do,
I’ll seek out all others who want to know too.

(last CHORUS)
I walk the Earth alone, wondering why this all began,
Being the hated person was never the plan.
Now I must question the choices I’ve made,
How to handle this crisis I’ve caused,
I walk the Earth alone
Alone

I Never Heard I Love You

Genres: Indie

I Never Heard I love You
BPM: 117

Verse 1

I needed something to get tangled in

He was pumping iron at his reflection

And I pictured myself a charm

Hanging on one of those big arms

Verse 2

Tracy, Jess, and Natalie,

Shook their heads when he winked at me

Before they could say “bad reputation”

I’d started the conversation

Pre-Chorus

Well, I don’t mind

Patching holes in a sinking ship

‘Cuz when he says I love you

It’ll be fixed

Chorus

Now he calls me perfect all the time

My friends call warn me from side lines

But I am an investigator

Check it out and pay later

Only when I’m in recovery I’ll say

I wish you’d told me

When I did all I could do

And that ship sank into the blue

And I never heard

“I love you”

Verse 3

Well I got my firework romance

When the alarms sounded, I danced

The more roses and red merlot

The farther I thought we’d go

Verse 4

Well the months went by,

I kept waiting

And though I tried

The fire was fading

Pre-chorus

I don’t mind

Patching holes in a sinking ship

‘Cuz when he says I love you

It’ll be fixed

Chorus

Now he calls me perfect all the time

My friends warn me from sidelines

But I’m an investigator

Check it out and pay later

Only when I’m in recovery I’ll say

I wish you’d told me

When I did all I could do

And that ship sank into the blue

And I never heard

I love you

Instrumental

Bridge
C
Well everyone knew the ending

I kept pretending

I could keep the ship afloat

Can’t find love

If it’s not there

Now I know

Pre-chorus

Don’t know why

I patch holes in a sinking ship

Waiting for I love you

Mmmmm

Chorus

He called me perfect all the time

My friends warned me from sidelines

But I’m an investigator

Checked it out and paying later

Now I’m in recovery saying

I wish you’d told me

I did all I could do

That ship sank into the blue

I never heard

I love you

This song, and all my other songs, are commercially available. Please contact me at deang55@yahoo.com, (707)704-0620.

VS1.
Strange things seem to be going on ‘round here,
I wanted to go out with the guys for an ice-cold beer.
But Tuesday’s date night, I know what that means
I’ll be going out for ice cream with the girl of my dreams.

VS2.
Feeling the fallout from those I call my good friends,
They love to tease me, it likely will not end.
I’ve painted my house all in neutral hues,
Like blue, beige and white, and pale yellow, too.

(PRECHORUS)
 Today, Feng Shuie,
Will show me the way.

(CHORUS)
I have a funny feeling, am I being Feng Shuied?
Everything in the house has been moved to another place.
Now that all my belongings have been rearranged.
I find I like it. I like being Feng Shuied.
VS3.
She brought to my house some green, pet-friendly plants,
Right after that, she brought home two Persian cats.
There’s a big fat Buddha sitting on a tall stand,
Who’s always smiling at me and waving his right hand.

(repeat PRECHORUS)

(repeat CHORUS)

(BRIDGE)
I’ll put up with all my friends teasin’ me,
As long as she keeps pleasin’ me.
I’ll learn how to embrace Feng Shuied,
Cuz, now I know she’s here to stay.

(repeat CHORUS)
Yea, I like being Feng Shuied!

Christmas in Jamaica Lyrics by Dean Grein 2024

“Meri Krimiss” from Jamaica (sung or spoken)

VS1.
It’s Christmas Eve in Kingston town,
The children have fin’lly settled down.
They’ll have good dreams throughout the night
And wake up early to their delight.

VS2.
People have been to the Market Square,
Looking for late gifts they can share.
Children have fun, but some are afraid,
Watching the Dreadman in the Junkanoo parade.

(CHORUS)
Santa, may I jump into your pickup truck,
And go all the way down to Kingston town?
I wanna hurry home, I can’t wait to see,
If I have a present under the Christmas tree.

VS3.
Our Christmas meal will be a tasty treat,
There are so many yummy foods to eat.
Saltfish, breadfruit, plantains and ackee,
All washed down with fruit juice and tea.

(REFRAIN)
Billions celebrate Christmas Holiday,
Each country has its own way.
Come to Jamaica and you’ll see,
How we celebrate it when it’s ninety-two degrees.

(CHORUS)

Merry Christmas from Jamaica,
Merry Christmas from Jamaica,
Merry Christmas from Jamaica.

VS 1.
Sittin’ on the porch in the old rocking chair,
I have nowhere to go, and all day to get there.
The chair’s in the same place since you went away,
There on the front porch, still to this day,

Pre-Chorus
As the days go by, I’m here alone,
    Wond’rin’ when you’re coming home.

(CHORUS)
I’m rocking alone, wond’rin where are you now,
The memories are almost gone and fading somehow.
Every day leaves me with a heavy heart,
Wond’rin’ why we let things fall apart

VS2.
We’d sit on the front porch most every day,
And watch the neighborhood kids as they ran and laughed and played.
It seems they just showed up from everywhere,
Just to come and to play in that rocking chair.

Pre-Chorus
Now the old rocker’s startin’ to show its age,
Left out in the cold, feeling betrayed

(Repeat CHORUS)

(BRIDGE)
I ‘m tightenin’ up the nails on our old creaky chair,
It will be restored with all my love and care,
It’s getting’ a new lick of paint today.
Ready for you when you come home to stay.

(Repeat CHORUS)
I’m rocking alone, wond’rin where are you now,

She Went Back to Mississippi
Lyrics by Dean Grein 2024, This song, and all my other songs, are commercially available. Please contact me at deang55@yahoo.com, (707)704-0620.

(INTRO)
Miss’sippi, Miss’sippi
     Where she wants to be,

VS1.
She had never left home before I lured her away,
To a job out West earning better pay.
Moving away was a decision I had to make
It was a gamble we had to take.
Miss’sippi, Miss’sippi,
She didn’t want to leave.

VS2.
When she’d visit back home with family and friends,
I worried and wondered if I’d ever see her again.
Her trips back home were taking their toll,
I knew the South would always be her home.

Miss’sippi, Miss’sippi,
Where she wants to be.

(CHORUS)
In Miss’sippi arms, she’ll find her way back South,
Back to the old neighborhood, back into our same old house.
She’s been so many years away,
But now I can say, she’s goin’ home to stay.

VS3.
We had great life, she was a loving wife,
But things weren’t so happy over time.
Some say it might have been the seven-year itch,
But in my heart, I knew she was just homesick.
Miss’sippi, Miss’sippi,
Where she wants to be.

VS4.
I knew the day was coming for that fateful event,
She packed up all her stuff and off she went.
Don’t even think this upset me at all,
Cause I was with her drivin’ the U-Haul
Miss’sippi, Miss’sippi,
Where she wants to be.

(CHORUS)
In Miss’sippi arms, she’ll find her way back South,
Back to the old neighborhood, back into our same old house.
She’s been so many years away,
But now I can say, she’s goin’ home to stay.

(BRIDGE)
I often wondered did I have the right,
To take her from her family and home.
Thinking I gave her a better life,
When all she felt was sad and alone.

Now, Miss’sippi, Miss’sippi,
Where we both wanna be, Oh yeah!
Miss’sippi, Miss’sippi,
     Where we both wanna be.

Working for the Man

Genres: Country

“Working For the Man” 2023 All copyrights belong to Dean Grein

VS1.
When I was just a young boy at my Daddy’s side,
He never talked abo-ut the dreams he’d hide.
He said life is a struggle, don’t you lose your fight,
Keep working for the ma-an, until the time is right.

VS2.
I wake up every morning, coffee cup in hand,
I gotta get a move on, cuz I’m workin’ for the man.
Toiling in the sun tending to his crops,
All the time thinkin’ bout the day I will stop.

(CHORUS)
I’ll be working from sunup ‘til I see the moonlight,
I gotta make ends meet, and keep my dreams in sight.
With courage in my heart and sweat in my eyes,
I’ll have to keep on working ‘til I fin’lly reach the prize.

VS3.
I have a sad tale to tell down this long hard road,
Tossin’ words and melodies ‘bout a story to be told.
Just living out my dreams with pen and my guitar,
Knowing all this hard work might not get me far.

VS4.
Success might feel elusive, like a warm winter day,
But I will keep on going ‘til I got my way.
Since I‘ve always had my share of these rough hard times
I know what I have to do, the future’s is all mine

(repeat CHORUS)

(SOLO)

(BRIDGE)
I will be workin’ for the man and living in despair,
Until you all finally hear my songs on the air.
Then maybe, just maybe, someday I am gonna see,
How my words and a melody have finally set me free.

(repeat CHORUS)
Yes, I’ll have to keep on working ‘til I fin’lly reach the prize.

Ten Years Awaitin'

“Ten Years A’waitin” Lyrics by Dean Grein revised 2024
This song, and all my other songs, are commercially available. Please contact me at deang55@yahoo.com, (707)704-0620.

(VS.1)
I hear the 6:15 whistle, it’s so far away,
The past 10 years it’s been my wakeup call.
I thank the Lord, I hear it each and every day,
Hope he remembers I’m still behind this wall.
(VS.2)
As a youngster, I was a troublesome child,
When I was twenty, I plead guilty to a crime,
Grandpa always said I was no count and wild,
And I deserved 10 years hard labor at sentencing time.

(CHORUS)
Yes, we’ve all made bad decisions,
But we don’t always wind up in prison.
There’s nothin’ here to keep you sane,
But the sound of that far-off train.

(VS.3)
I know I’ve made it through another day,
When I hear the whistle of the final train.
I am used to time just wasting away,
Cuz, I know tomorrow, it all begins again.

(VS.4)
Fin’lly it has been ten years a ’waitin’’
My prison nightmare is now over.
I will rejoice this day as I awaken,
Finally, as a free man clean and sober.

(CHORUS)
Yes, we’ve all made a bad decision,
But we don’t always wind up in prison.
There’s nothin’ here to keep you sane,
But the sound of that far-off train.

(BRIDGE)
Oh, it’s tough when you’ve lost ten years of your life,
After all those years hard labor, I finally see the light.

So, when I hear a train a goin’ down the track,
It reminds me of that cell and I’ll never go back.

VS1.
From my crib it’s just a two-hour flight,
To a different place, a land of delight.
The Island rhythm vibes, you feel right away,
As soon as you get there, you’re tempted to stay.

PRE-CHORUS:
In the land of the sun and sea,
The island of Jamaica is callin’ me.

CHORUS:
I took the jet plane to Kingston, man,
I wanna get me a dark brown tan.
I’ll go to the beach with the beautiful sand,
And cruise Montego Bay in a catamaran.

VS2.
Jamaica is the place that feels so right,
Dancin’ to Reggae music far into the night.
The good times I’ve had there I will remember,
When I’m back home this cold December.

VS3.
Walking along the beach, I made up my mind,
I need to find a girl to spend some time.
We’ll sing, we’ll laugh, and get on our feet,
Movin’ to the music with the Reggae beat.

BRIDGE:

I have so many memories I’ll never forget,
Jamaica has been fun, but I have to jet.
It went by so fast, I ran out of time,
I’m packed to go, and make it home by nine.

And I’ll be going back to Jamaica, Jamaica,
I’ll be going back to Jamaica.

Doin' Fine Most of the Time

Genres: Country

“Doin’ Fine Most the Time”
Lyrics and song copywritten 2023 and owned by Dean F Grein

VS1.
Darlin’, it’s already over a year,
Since you’ve been gone from here.
There’s a faint smell of your perfume,
Whenever I walk into our room.

VS.2
We would start every day with a kiss,
It’s hard to say how badly you’re missed.
I often laugh about things you’ve said,
Each night I’ll reach for you in our bed.

(PRE CHORUS)
Time may ease the pain I feel,
But will my heart ever heal?

(CHORUS:)
I’m doin’ fine most of the time,
When you’re not always on my mind.
When I’m fast asleep every night,
I can dream of you holding me tight.

(And I’m doin’ fine)

(VS3.)

It’s tough moving on with life,
     After losing your wife.
It’s often hard to wake up and say,
Today’s gonna be a better day.

(PRE CHORUS)
Time may ease the pain I feel,
But will my heart ever heal?

(CHORUS:)

I’m doin’ fine most the time,
When you’re not always on my mind.
When I’m fast asleep every night
I can dream of you holding me tight.

VS4.)
I won’t avoid the places we went,
A walk in the park, a sporting event.
Nothing is wrong keeping a memory,
Of the love we had, you and me.

(And I’m doin’ fine)

Walk the Walk

Genres: Country, Singer-Songwriter

“Walk the Walk’
This, and all of my songs, are commercially available. Please contact me at deang55@yahoo.com, (707)704-0620

(INTRO)
I wrote a song of what I saw last night,
A fella who was hoping for a green light.

(VS1.)
Last night in a bar I wrote down a song,
About a guy and his rowdy date.
I wondered just how much Red Bush whisky he had bought,
And how much more it would take.

(VS2.)
The words all came at once, I penned a great hit,
That’s not as simple as it sounds.
Well, writing it was easy, this I will admit.
But wait ‘til you start making the rounds.

(CHORUS)

Your Mama likes the song, your friends all sing along,
Everyone says it’s a hit but talk is talk.
Before you impress the man, you gotta have a plan,
It’s been said you better be ready to walk the walk.

VS3.

I wrote the song that night in a smoky bar,
But will it gather any radio play?
Tho’ I have spent a fortune just getting this far,
Don’t think I’m gonna get rich this way.

VS4.

This Industry’s full of hope and despair,
     Frustrations might be really rough?
Just to get a song played on the air,
It looks like it’s gonna be tough.

(BRIDGE)

And this song would be nice with a happy end,
But that would only be pretend.
I just received a brand-new list,
Many more record label I might have missed.

(CHORUS: REPEAT)

(OUTRO)
Yeah, if you talk the talk
     You gotta walk the walk

Through My Rear-View Mirror

Genres: Country

“Through My Rear-View Mirror”
Lyrics and song rights owned by Dean F. Grein 2023

VS1.
My first girl and I were made for each other,
I’ll never forget she’s my first lover.
I’m not really sure but what I can say,
For some reason one day, I let her slip away.

Pre-Chorus 1
Yeah, I let her slip away.

CHORUS:
Through the rear-view mirror, I see mistakes of my past,
Each one a love story that never seems to last.
I have to bear the sadness of this heavy load,
As I keep on driving down this rocky road.

VS2.
As time moved on quickly, so did my life,
In the meantime, I found me a wife.
Together we built our happy home,
But for reasons unknown, I started to roam.

Pre-Chorus 2
 Oh, I started to roam.

Repeat CHORUS

VS3.
My poor judgement has led me astray
I live in sorrow most every day.
What can I do to prevent the mistakes,
How long will it take to erase the heartache?

Pre-Chorus 3
 How long will it take?

BRIDGE:
For me to stop lookin’ through the rear-view mirror.
As the rest of my life draws near,
I’ll Pay attention to what’s up the road,
And rid myself of this toxic load.

Repeat CHORUS

Let's Take a Ride

Genres: Pop

“Let’s Take a Ride” Lyrics owned and copyright 2023 by Dean Grein

VS1.
It’s been hot in the city for over a week,
The cool weather’s playing hide and seek.
There’s got to be a better place where we can go,
But not a 500-mile trip just to see some snow.

VS2.
Two girls working nine to five every day,
Trying to meet those deadlines to earn that pay.
It’s time to cut loose and we can both unwind,
Let’s jump in the car, see what we can find.

CHORUS:
Let’s take a ride tonight, just to get outta town,
We’ll enjoy the cool breeze, put the car top down.
The fireflies are twinkling like little tiny stars,
Let’s catch us a bunch and put them in a jar.
Let’s take a ride tonight... in my car.

VS3.
We clocked out, cashed our check, we’re on our way,
With the windows down, we can hear the wind say,
“This hot weather won’t stop your fun,
It will be cooler when nightfall’s begun.”

VS4.
It’s so fun singing with the radio,
We can’t sing in tune, but who’s gonna know?
Might there be a roadhouse somewhere down this way?
Maybe dance and find romance while the house band plays?

Repeat CHORUS:

BRIDGE:
It’s said all good things must come to an end,
But it’s never been said you can’t do it all over again.

Repeat CHORUS:
In my car.
Let’s take a ride! Oh, yeah!

VS1.
She was always a skinny girl as a kid,
I would laugh at the crazy things she did.
She always put a smile on my face,
This wasn’t the time or place.

VS2.
All thru school she was my classmate,
But being around her, I played it straight.
I badly yearned for her tender embrace,
This wasn’t the time or place.

(CHORUS)

Love has to have a time and place to grow,
When our paths crossed, I was always too slow.
It seems every time that I missed the sign,
My love for her fell gradually farther behind.

VS3.
Growing up I’d see her at the places she went,
And her smiles were always so well-meant.
But I just couldn't tell her how my heart ached,
This wasn’t the time or place.

VS4.
A Johnny-come-lately just showed up one day,
It didn't take him long to steal her away.
Guess I'll just vanish without a trace,
This wasn't the time or place.

(BRIDGE)

Now I wonder ‘bout the chances I missed,
When will my bad choices cease to exist?
 Will I find love someday?
In a different time and place

VS5.
Sadness and loneliness are terrible things,
They're constantly tugging on our heartstrings.
Now all these memories I have to erase,
This was never the time or place.

(CHORUS)

(OUTGO)?
Were we never meant to be,
Oh Yeah, all the blames on me,
Blame me!

A Christmas Love Story

Genres: Country

“A Christmas Love Story”
Lyrics and song are copywritten 2023 by Dean Grein who has sole ownership.

VS1.
As the fireplace crackles there’s a warm winter glow,
People have gathered ‘round to watch it snow.
Looks like a white Christmas Eve will be here,
It’s that magic time of the year.

VS2.
Somewhere there’s a young man with a scheme,
‘bout a young lady and all his dreams.
She’s the one who’s kiss stole his heart away,
She doesn’t know his plans for this day.

CHORUS:
It’s Christmas all over the World again,
“on earth peace, good will toward men”.
Two lovers under the mistletoe.
With hearts aglow.
It’s a Christmas love story.

VS3.
It’s Christmas eve on the front porch swing,
In a the young man’s pocket there’s a diamond ring.
Since that first kiss, his love has grown,
He waits till they’re fin’lly alone.

VS4.
He knelt on one knee that cold winter night,
She saw her ring and it felt so right.
This holiday brought two people together,
     Joined forever.

Repeat CHORUS:

BRIDGE:

All throughout the years, their love will grow,
It started with a kiss under the mistletoe,

Repeat CHORUS:
a Christmas love story.

(VS1.)
It’s Friday night, and there’s no place to go,
Nothing good’s playing at the picture show.
So, I sent my B-F-F a little tweet’,
I’m ready to find a good place to eat.

(VS2.)
After the meal, the night is not through,
Let’s go find something else to do.
Do you want to go someplace and dance,
Laugh, have fun, give some boys a chance?

(CHORUS)
There’s more to the Country Music scene,
Than a Cowboy hat and tight blue jeans.
So, grab your keys, and let’s jump in your car,
Somewhere down this road, there’s a honky-tonk bar.
(VS3.)
I know the music’s gonna be loud and live,
I love to do some dancin’ to the Cha Cha slide.
Tonight, we'll do the Boot Scootin’ Boogie, you all,
And,mand tease the boys with my best Southern drawl.

(VS4.)
After all the dancing I sure could use a drink,
A good-lookin’ cowboy is there in a wink.
I winked and told him “I do declare,
I believe I’d love to have a Scarlet O’Hare. (sic)”
(Maybe spoken/sung like Scarlet O’Hara in Gone with the Wind?)

(BRIDGE)

Oh, the Saturday morning sun had already risen,
When I left that Honky-Tonk bar,
What I'm doing later, is an easy decision,
Last night I met a cowboy who could be a movie star!

VS 1.
My Dad bought me a radio in eighty-seven,

He said, “I’m gonna tell you sumpin’ boy,”
Take care of it, it ain’t no toy.
Oh----Oh, my first radio.

VS 2.
What station to play, never came to mind
It only played Country Music all the time.
When it was time to go to bed,
It sat in the window above my head.
Oh----Oh, my first radio.

(CHORUS)
A transistor radio playing a Country tune,
Will tug at your heart like a Mississippi moon.
Oh----Oh, my first radio.

VS 3.
I found love one day in the arms of a girl,
I hoped she would change my world.
A sweet recollection might unfold,
From memories of stories yet untold.
Oh----Oh, my first radio.

VS 4.
Through many a heartbreak and sadness,
I always managed to find some gladness.
Country music is the way to go
Millions of people say it’s so!!
Oh----Oh, my first radio.

(CHORUS)

(BRIDGE)
Through all the years with my radio,
I always found it lifted my heart and soul.
So, if you have a daughter or son,
Why not go out and buy them one.

(CHORUS)
Oh----Oh, my first radio.
Oh----Oh, my first radio.

VS.1
I sure could tell that things weren’t right?
Our passion had started to sour.
What we used to do the entire night,
     Now hardly lasted an hour.

VS.2
If you go, don’t slam the door,
If you’re willing to leaving me this way?
Go out and find what you’re looking for,
But there’s something I have to say!

(CHORUS)

Go ahead and shadow me with social media,
Try and do a fact check on Wikipedia!
Cuz when you see I’ve found somebody new.
    You’ll know we’re through.

VS.3
How are things goin’ since your big decision,
Did you realize it’s been over a year?
Do you think I’ve been in a bad position,
     Heartbroken, wishin’ you were here?

Like realizing all along you’re wrong.
There goes another wedding ring.
You are right where you belong.

(CHORUS)

It’s time for me to get my groove on,

VS 1.
I’m kept in a dirty, dark prison alone,
It is a 5x8 cell, my final home.
I’m waiting on my scheduled day,
They finally come and lead me away.

VS 2.
Every day is full with desperation,
     Due to my impending destination.
Loneliness surrounds me, I hear the pouring rain,
And despair holds me down just like a heavy chain.

(CHORUS)
There is a distant train whistle I wait to hear,
It echoes during the night, calming my fear.
It’s whistle of sorrow will echo thru the walls,
‘Til that fateful day arrives when they end it all.

VS 3.
Dying draws closer with every breath I take,
No doubt I will be paying for my mistake.
I have recollections of loved ones gone,
Soon I will just be a memory, and life moves on

VS 4.
Darkness surrounds me, but I’ll endure the night,
As the faint whistle echoes ‘til morning light.
The train sound will be a haunting lament,
For the wretched life that I have spent.

(BRIDGE)
Through the heavy bars I long to escape
I seek freedom from sadness and hate.
The trains lonely sound urges me to believe,
Is there hope beyond my fate, may I dare to dream?

I like for us to be alone,
When we’re out on the town.
Your always on that stupid phone,
Why don’t you just put it down?

VS2.
You know I asked you many times,
Please leave it in your purse.
Now I am starting to see the signs,
Cause now things are getting worse.

[Pre-Chorus #1}
So, now you’re telling me, this is how it's gonna be?
Well, all I’ve got to say is OMG!!

[CHORUS}
Don't call me, don't text me. Don't even think of sexting!
You used to be so sweet. Don't send me another tweet.
I love you for the girl you are, but you’ve let it go too far.
So put that damn phone away, let’s go enjoy this day.

SOLO

VS3.

You always seem to get a call,
Right in the middle of our meal.
You know it drives me up the wall,
It really don’t matter how I feel.

VS4.

You’ve given me quite a dilemma,
I’m never gonna let you go.
So what if you’re on your own agenda?
I know you’ll love me when the battery’s low

[Pre-Chorus #2}
Don’t be always telling me, this is how it's gotta be.
Cause, all I’ve got to say is OMG!!

[Repeat CHORUS}

SOLO

[BRIDGE]
People who own cellphones are never alone.
That’s how it feels when you're out with me.
So today put the cellphone away, we’ll find a nice cafe.
I promise you a good time, I promise you a good time

[Repeat CHORUS}
OMG

(VS 1.)
My Grandpa gave me his ol’ guitar,
When I was barely able to walk.
I practiced playing around the clock,
Boy, if this ol’ guitar would talk.
(VS 2.)
It’d say, we played every Honky-Tonk bar,
But still we just barely got by.
We slept in the back of my beat-up car,
Staring up at the stars in the sky.

(CHORUS)
It’s hard to get rich playing guitar,
Chances are you won’t get far.
You got to get used to being alone,
Far, far away from your family and home.

(VS 3.)
Every night was the same old routine,
Lonely women in a smoke-filled bar,
Night after night my only dream
Was that someone I loved would come and hear my guitar.

(VS 4.)
Women could recognize a homesick man,
Away from home and on the road.
I wasn’t crazy ‘bout a one-night stand,
But it was better than being alone.
(CHORUS)
 (BRIDGE)
I dread when I am old and gray.
I’ll have to put my guitar away.
Hopefully when that day is through,
This ol’ guitar’s found someone new.
(CHORUS)
(VS 5.)
I finally become quite a success,
I sure had learned to work hard.
I realized Grandpa knew it best,
When he gave me his ol’ guitar.
(CHORUS)
My ol’ guitar...

Looking for a Girl

VS 1.
I saw this lady at a bar last night,
Who didn't have much to say.
She was a sight and looked just right.
She said, “Go away, you’re spoiling my day!”

VS 2.
While surfing on an online site,
I thought I'd found the right girl.
She says, “I need a man tonight, to be my delight!”
She ain’t gonna rock my world!

[Chorus]
I am looking for a girl a little bit crazy,
Who will treat me right ev’ry night.
Might you be that lady, I can call my baby,
May I hold you in my arms real tight?
I’m looking for a girl.

VS 3.
I spotted a filly at the racetrack,
Man, I would like to be her steed.
She asked me, “What’s your problem, Jack?”
Guess I wasn’t up to speed!

VS4.
I spoke to a girl at the picture show,
Might she be the girl of my dreams?
She says, “Don’t think so, already have a beau!”
Finding a girl is hard it seems.

[Chorus]

[Bridge]
I’m searchin’ for a gi-irl; Please be my pearl.
Where are you darlin’, can’t you hear my heart’s a callin’?
I know you are out there, will you answer my prayer,
Love is really tough; Don’t you think I’m givin’ up.

[Chorus]
I’m looking for a girl.
Looking for a girl.
Looking for a girl.
I’m looking for a girl.
