I'm a lyricist looking for musicians to write music to my lyrics.

Have been a professional copywriter for many years, but passion is for songs. Grew up in Appalachia so I tend to write a lot of folk/singer-songwriter songs. I’ve also traveled the world a good bit, so my lyrics are a combination of those influences.

I write in a vacuum, just me and the paper, and so I truly have no idea if my lyrics are marketable. I’ve never collaborated with another writer, but I think that’s an important next step for me. So although I’m probably going to stink at it for a while, I am very open to finding co-writers.

Use of AI

I write all my lyrics. I’ve spent my career as a professional copywriter and I can admit I have far too much pride to let an AI do ANY sort of writing for me. Besides, AI writes like a 2nd grader.

I use Suno to test my lyrics, to make sure they work with timing and song structure. It’s a useful tool but I hate it, passionately. Nothing better than human voices and human artistry. To all you folks with musical/singing skills, keep on keepin’ on.

I’m a member of the local songwriters association and we had a prompt of “Open Door”. I combined that with a phrase on my “Happy Shenanigans” list of possible song phrases (I find I love you everywhere) and these lyrics are what popped out of my head. I’m embarrassed to say how much I love the chorus of this song. I’d still like to make some edits to the verses, though - maybe not have two locations that are in space. These are 100% my original lyrics, but I used that damn Suno for the rest.

I write all of my lyrics, I don’t use any sort of AI for that at all. I’m very strict about that. But because I can’t sing or play an instrument very well, I do use Suno to make sure my lyrics work re: structure and timing. I would like to collaborate with a singer/musician who can create original melodies and production for these songs, for demos, publishing, etc.
