LONELY DAYS OF SORROW

Lonely days of sorrow linger in my mind,
The days since I left are so hard to find.
Memories of happier times often creep in,
As I search for a way to cope with this pain within.
A flood of tears I’ve shed each lonely night,
Missing you and all our times so bright.
My broken heart and my sorrowed soul,
Both ripped apart, no one to make me whole.
And I walk these streets where we used to be,
Every shadow looks like you to me.
The silence echoes loud and clear,
Every moment without you here.
Lonely days, endless nights go by,
Still hoping you’ll appear before my eyes.
But reality cuts deep and cruel,
I’m left here missing you, still missing you.
I pass the places that we used to know,
The café corner where we’d watch the sunset glow.
I trace the footsteps that we walked as one,
Now I’m walking alone beneath the same old sun.
Friends say the hurting will fade away,
That time will heal and I’ll be okay.
But they don’t know what it’s like to lose your world,
To stand where we stood and know you’re gone for good.
