DescriptionI am passionate about music and words, and wrote music in Nashville about twenty years ago. It was just for fun, but I did get my songs in front of Trace Adkins (piano vocal, lol). Since then, I let the rest of life take up my time (it's been a great life!). This year I felt it was time to pursue this with more focus. I write across nearly every music genre, and I try to write story-driven, or deeply resonating music. My favorite artist is Jack Johnson.
Dreams & AmbitionsMy goal is a publishing deal as a lyricist. I love working with words and using them to inspire, encourage and challenge, and my music is catchy and "relevant" but always with a profound underpinning message. I have a diverse range of music interests, but am always drawn to deep and cerebral lyrics like Jack Johnson and the Indigo Girls.
Lyrics
Genres: Country, Rock
ON THE DRIVE HOME It was 10pm on a Tuesday His taillights split through the black From a motel on the outside of town There’d be no turning back His mind was filled with a million cheap excuses He could try But the hint of sweet perfume Proved they'd be nothin' but lies (chorus) The car broke down I worked too late The boss man called And I had to wait The boys went drinkin' I guess I stayed too long But there was no one he could blame As he tried to fight the shame With the cheap excuses made On the drive home He pulled into the driveway Barely missed his son's new bike He hoped his wife would be asleep So he could hide that night But as he opened up the door His son came running from the den "I hit my first homerun tonight" "Daddy, where have you been?" (chorus 2) The car broke down I worked too late The boss man called And I had to wait The boys went drinkin' I guess I stayed too long But staring in those eyes He broke down and he cried From the cheap excuses made On the drive home (bridge) And it was just one night That cost him so much life Now his wife fights to believe him when he says... (chorus)

This song was based on a conversation I had with a friend as I was leaving California to move to Nashville. When she asked if I was al packed up, I said, "yep, and it looks like my entire life fits in nine boxes!" To which she exclaimed, "that's a country song!" So here it is.
