Shawn and CJ Solar’s repertoire also features “That’s My Country Sound†and “That’s What Love Can Do,†displaying his ability to blend Drop D acoustic stylings with heartfelt lyricism and energetic performances. Dreams & AmbitionsAs Shawn Ash, a dedicated country singer-songwriter and performer based in Fruitland Park, Florida, my passion lies in crafting authentic songs that capture the raw essence of life—whether it's the soul-searching introspection of small-town dreams, the foot-stomping energy of an outlaw country anthem, the heart-soaring joy of love found, or the heart-breaking ache of goodbyes like in my track "Knees." I thrive on the songwriting process itself, drawing from over a decade of local gigs at venues like Cody's Roadhouses, City Fire in The Villages, Willard's in Morriston, FL, and The Frog and Monkey in Mt. Dora, FL, where I've honed my craft with backing tracks and original material co-written with talents like CJ Solar. It's not about chasing chart-topping hits, but creating music that feels undeniably right—authentic outlaw country vibes that resonate deeply, as seen in my upcoming album "The Craft" and songs like "You're All I'll Ever Need" and "Anywhere," aimed at connecting with fans through indie promotions and live performances 10–15 times a month. My dream is to build a lasting career blending my IT network engineering expertise with this musical journey, using tools like AI for setlists via SmartSetAI while pushing my sound to broader audiences through low-cost strategies, radio submissions, and music videos that tell visual stories. Ultimately, I want my songs to inspire fellow performers and listeners alike, proving that heartfelt, genre-true writing can bridge personal stories to universal truths without compromising the soul of country music.
EquipmentFor recording in my home studio I use a Sennheiser MK4 with Shockmount or a Shure SM7B to get clear crisp clean vocals on my tracks. I am budget concious so I use Adobe Audition, Audacity, and a couple of other DAWs to mix, tweak, and master my tracks I have about 300+ digital tools, instruments, harmonizers, FX and more to put together my tracks and then ultimately to record my vocals once I have the music where I want it. I have never used autotune for anything in my life and god willing my voice will hold up well into my 70's or 80's, I am 54 now and can sing close to a 2 ocatave range on a good day when I am actually singing using my diaphram, on a bad day which thankfully are few and far between I have to stay in the lower range, lower key songs like Josh Turner's Your Man, Jamey Johnson's In Color, or kicking it up with Some Little Bit of Life or Drinkin My Baby Goodbye.
