I have about 140 songs on Soundcloud (Retrokeys) and wish to collaborate. Main genres are electronic/80's dance/eurobeat/hi-nrg/quirky/new age/chill. Using two computers, one for DAW and second for mastering from the DAW, mixing onboard and outboard gear between the two. The setup has 4 screens and controls actual vintage synths, mixers, outboard gear, vocals, and of course PC based VST instruments. I use Cubase Pro as my main DAW but am familiar with Ableton Live. My website ikom.us has most of the body of my work and samples of the genres that I am passionate about. One person can not make great music alone. I would love to collaborate with others, including vocalists, lyricists, and other programmer/engineer types for fun or profit using what I have learned for the last 30 years or so. I keep current with new music such as Chvrches, Grimes, Lorde and others. I prefer music with chord structure and lively melodies, sometimes dark content. Would prefer to work with people in similar genres, but with any musical work the joy is in the creation process of something new, and that's what drives me. I have reached the point where the technology does not get in the way and ideas can flow quickly and that makes it all the more fun. My main business is in communication and I am exploring ways for real time collaboration using remote control of pcs and voip phones etc. so collaboration may be possible regardless of boundaries. Influences, favorites artists and producers: Depeche Mode, Erasure, Vince Clarke, Alison Moyet, Enya, Chvrches, Kate Bush, Grimes, Lorde, New Order, XTC, Cocteau Twins, Siouxsie, Georgio Moroder, Rush, Sandra, Ofra Haza, Jane Siberry. GEAR LIST: Cubase Pro, Maschine, SoundForge, Lexicon PCM70, Yamaha reverb, Focusrite ISA mic preamp, Valley Comp Lim, AKG C414B-ULS, Schoeps CMIT5U, & Oberheim, Roland, Waldorf, Yamaha, Casio, Emu vintage synths. Digital Mixers - Focusrite Scarlett and Behringer XAir.
Dreams and ambitions:
To collaborate and create something quite good that others can enjoy. I would like to bring back 80's style music where innovation, lyrical content and melodies were important. Not necessarily the big hair and shoulder pad look. Would like to provide content or ideas to a new younger band that would like to move this genre forward, but be involved somewhat as an advisor to the programming and style and content of music, how to play live with the content to best effect etc. Of course I would greatly enjoy just working with other hard working musicians, probably in a remote format, since that is the way the world is at the moment, and publish to online media outlets, creating a buzz. NOTE: When listening to the below tracks, check out the various styles, and by all means listen LOUD with great headphones. I 've mixed in plenty of little sound bits, drum bits, swells, effects, and panning to make the listening fun. <----------UPDATE CORNER JAN 2022-------------> I am currently collaborating with 3 others on this platform and it is a lot of fun. Ossie, Richard, and Kate. The song with Ossie and Richard are finished and on the Top Tracks page. Kate's is in the works. All different styles. The way we are working is I study their lyrics, then fit them into the structure, then make rough vocals and send it to them via email attachment as an mp3, they listen and comment, back and forth until completed. I am doing the vocals now but may place adverts looking for others to sing on them in the near future.

Back to When, January 2022, Lyrics by Roger King, arrangement-vocals-engineering by Jim Ventresco. If there are any vocalists who would like to redo my vocals on this and provide stylings - both Roger and I would be interested.
This is the original instrumental - Dreamy Synth and Guitar track waiting for lyrics and vocals. Probably better guitar also. Please message me if interested. In the style of the Cocteau Twins. UPDATE JAN 2022: I collaborated with Ossie Smith on this and it is called OMG (Oh My God) and listed on Top Tracks on this site.
If anyone remembers Kraftwerk, this style and vocals will sound familiar. Original lyrics, composition, programming, vocals (?) etc. done by myself, would love to collaborate on something similar to this with others. Lyrics and concepts that fit this style of music would be awesome.
MY SUBMARINE C: Rising, falling, flowing down Feel the motion, all around V1: I am the captain of my submarine Finding my way through the deep blue sea I have a compass to guide me there On my journey to my destiny C: Rising, falling, flowing down Feel the motion, all around V2: Under the waves I keep a diary I write stories of the deep blue sea exotic creatures i've never seen these are places i've never been C: chorus, repeat, end..
